Verified where the records live

In-country, in-language, at the source

Credential verification is only as good as its access to the source. VERIS verifies directly with universities and employers across Singapore, Indonesia and the wider region, with Ministry of Education records in Indonesia as a fallback, and with licensing bodies in the relevant jurisdiction.

Where candidates have studied or worked across borders, checks are extended to the jurisdictions where the credential was earned, typically covering the last five to seven years, and reported jurisdiction by jurisdiction.

Documents supplied by the candidate are never accepted at face value. A certificate is a claim; only the institution can confirm what it awarded.

What credential checks find

Listed company · senior legal counsel, Singapore

The degree that was really a short course

The candidate's CV listed a master's in international law from a well-known US university. With consent, VERIS contacted the registrar directly: the candidate had attended a short executive course, but was never awarded the degree. The client stopped negotiations.

Education verification

Falsified qualifications

Degrees and transcripts the issuing university could not confirm, or that did not match its records.

Unaccredited institutions

Degree-mill certificates

Qualifications from institutions with no legitimate academic standing, presented as genuine degrees.

Employment history

Inflated or invented roles

Inconsistent dates, titles or responsibilities, and terminations the candidate did not disclose.

Across more than 100,000 individuals screened since 2010, VERIS identified discrepancies or concerns in about 28% of cases. Finding types from VERIS screening case records, 2010–2026. Read seven cases where credentials failed.

How we report
Where a source would only answer yes or no, or could not be reached, the report says so plainly.

Some company policies limit employer responses to yes or no; referee cooperation is never guaranteed. We record what was confirmed, by whom and when, and flag what could not be verified rather than dress it up. Results appear in VERISChecks with the source behind each check.

Frequently asked questions

What clients ask before engaging

How is education verified in Indonesia?

Directly with the issuing institution wherever possible: period of attendance, degree awarded and available detail such as GPA. Where the institution cannot assist, partial verification may be possible through Ministry of Education records. Documents are never accepted at face value.

What if a previous employer no longer exists?

Verification is attempted through the candidate's last direct supervisor, corporate registry records and other lawful sources, with clear reporting of what could and could not be verified.

How long does credential verification take?

Most checks complete within days to a few weeks depending on institutional response times and jurisdictions, with real-time tracking in VERISChecks.

Can you verify international qualifications?

Yes, across Asia-Pacific and beyond, using direct institutional contact and official clearing houses, reported jurisdiction by jurisdiction.

Do you need the candidate's permission?

Yes, always. Every credential check runs on the candidate's signed consent.

Is a certificate from the candidate enough?

No. A certificate, or a copy matched to an original, does not show that the qualification was ever awarded. Only the issuing institution can confirm that.

Ready to verify a candidate's credentials?

Tell us about the role and the qualifications involved, and we'll scope education, employment and licence verification that runs on the candidate's consent.
